How to Make a Calico Corn Necklace | from Blue Bells and Cockle ShellsCalico Corn (sometimes referred to as “Indian Corn”)

Calico corn looks gorgeous as an autumn decoration, but can also be used to make a beautiful calico corn necklace for your child. Nothing man made can compare to the striking autumn jewel tones of calico corn. Sola and I made  calico corn necklaces for many years in a row when she was younger and we still have the necklaces today as they hold up really well. I must have forgotten to blog about making them, however, because I cannot find my post. Fortunately, I saved the photos of the process! So here are the directions for making a calico corn necklace of your own:

Soak the kernels in water for 2 full days (we were also soaking acorns and other seeds and nuts).

Using a sturdy needle with beading string (or other strong thread), string the kernels until it is the desired length. We found it to be helpful to push down on the table (I protected the table with a thick layer of paper towels). How to Make a Calico Corn Necklace | from Blue Bells and Cockle Shells
